GoPro Hero 5 specs to include larger touchscreen and GPS

GoPro is on the verge of announcing a new series of Hero cameras, as the specifications of the Hero 5 Black version have appeared online, along with some images of its development process.

It is the most popular action camera in the world. GoPro Hero shooters have taken the world by storm and everybody seems to use them to record their action footage. Since everybody loves them, they will also be pleased to hear that another version is on its way.

Trusted sources have leaked the GoPro Hero 5 Black specs. The leaks also include some prototype photos and sketches. They used to include some pages of the manual, but most traces have been removed from the web at this point. Either way, the action cam is real and is poised to be introduced ahead of Photokina 2016.

The high-end version of the next-generation Hero cameras will retain its 4K video recording capabilities. The device will support up to 30fps in 4K mode, while also being able to shoot 2.7K videos at 60fps, 1440p at 80fps, and full HD at 120fps.

As far as connectivity goes, the GoPro Hero 5 specs list will definitely include a USB Type-C port along with an HDMI one. There will be built-in WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, Bluetooth Low Energy, and GPS.

Users will be able to store their videos on a single microSD card with a capacity of up to 64GB. They will be able to capture their shots thanks to a lens with an internal design that consists of six elements, including aspherical ones.

The battery’s capacity stands at 1,220 mAh, while the dimensions of the device stand at 62 x 44.6 x 33.7 millimeters. This is still a tiny device, as well as lightweight, considering the fact that it will weigh only 118 grams, including the battery.

Hero 5 Session version will be announced alongside Black model

GoPro will not launch the Black version on its own. Sources have confirmed that the Hero 5 Session will also become official, but its specifications will not be as good as the ones of the Black unit.

Nevertheless, both models are coming soon. There are strong chances that it will all happen within a month, therefore the Hero 5 line-up will be ready for the Photokina 2016 event. For now, there is no information regarding the price.
